Our work in intergroup relations studies underlying personal and contextual factors that create or prejudice, maintain it, as well as factors that serve to combat prejudice and discrimination. We study the role of intergroup emotions, including intergroup disgust sensitivity (Choma et al., 2012; Hodson, Choma et al., 2013), ideology and beliefs, and context, including intergroup contact (Choma et al., 2014; Hodson, Dube, & Choma, 2015). We investigate a wide range of prejudices, including Islamophobia, sexism, anti-LGBTQ+ prejudice, accent-based prejudice, anti-Black racism, and anti-Asian racism.
