In order to tackle misinformation on social media, our lab is conducting research and building tools to investigate potential interventions. This, recent, research focus of the lab involves the creation of the mock social media website tool: a highly realistic template of a mock social media website that researchers can experimentally manipulate the design and content of for participants to interact with. We are using this tool to explore different design-based interventions for online misinformation, with the goal of better incentivizing users to be more deliberate with their interactions with information online.
