Shanelle joined the lab in September 2013 as a fourth year undergraduate thesis student. Since then, she has received her B.A. Honours degree in Psychology. She is currently continuing her thesis on racial/ethnic differences in self-objectification and body-focused anxiety. In this study, we explore the impact of media advertisements featuring a culturally specific ideal (i.e., large or small buttocks) on young Black and White women’s self-objectification and examine whether self-objectification fosters negative body attitudes such as buttock size dissatisfaction. Shanelle is planning on pursing graduate studies in Clinical Psychology with research interests in child psychopathology and self-image.
